The Institute Innovation Council (IIC) engages various independent platforms, e.g., CIDI, IDEA Lab, SIF, and SARTHI, to run specialized skill labs and innovation- and entrepreneurship-related activities/courses/training/workshops. New Centers of Excellence have been activated for providing unparalleled learning opportunities to internal as well as external learners in the fields of Robotics and AI, Quantum Computing, Strategic Technologies, Medical Drugs and Instrumentation, Bhartiya Gyan Parampara (with wings on language, science, visual and fine arts, classical dance and music), and the Science of Happiness.

The SGSITS Alumni Association (SAA), SGSITS Incubation Forum (SIF), and Dasgupta Samiti are among the alumni-driven initiatives that directly support the institute and address the diverse needs of current students, including financial assistance for deserving and needy students through multiple sources. Additionally, MoUs with prestigious organizations such as TUKE Slovakia, ICMR Hyderabad, IITs/NITs, and leading companies, along with an excellent placement record, continue to attract top-ranked candidates to SGSITS.

A lush green campus, enriched with dense forest areas like Chandan Nikunj and Krishna Taruwan, situated at a prime location in the cleanest city of India, Indore, along with world-class sports facilities including pickleball, billiards, snooker, tennis, badminton, and cricket, enhances the overall quality of life at SGSITS. The SGSITS Student Sangh (SSS), along with its various manch/mandals, provides a vibrant platform for students to explore and showcase their multidimensional talents.

Starting from the academic year 2025-26, the institute is admitting candidates into BTech programs through CSAB (All India UR seats), Study in India, DASA, in addition to MP DTE counselling. The institute has also developed a NEP-2020-based Flexible Modular Framework (FMF), which is expected to be approved by RGPV soon. This FMF will serve as the foundation for the proposed Multidisciplinary Education and Research University (MERU).
